Viewing an ever-changing familiar landscape. The long-term project ROYGBIV focuses on the feeling that occurred, after my adolescence, when re-visiting my homeland in Austria. The series attempts to unravel what it means to feel connected while at the same time being distanced. Through a collection of memories and hopes the personal relation to a place evolves yet the visual surface stays the same.

ROYGBIV explores this ambiguous connection to the landscapes and personalities that are a part of my experience of the place. Thereby using photography as a tool to create my own world of memory to document how this liminal space transforms with every visit.

The title is an acronym for the colors of the rainbow. An optical phenomenon that often kept reoccurring during the many summers spent at home. When seeing a rainbow the impression of colors depend on the position of the viewer with every step the color-pattern changes slightly. Therefore no two people will see the exact same arch in the sky.
