The multimedia installation „Ammentu“ (meaning „memory“ in the local Sardo language) focuses on the transforming landscapes of the Mediterranean island Sardinia, exploring the interplay between human intervention, memory, and the environment. Through analogue photography and 16mm film, the project examines the relationship between the natural world, resource extraction, and scientific development. „Ammentu" weaves together different geographies across the island, highlighting the tension between scenic landscapes, historical mining regions, and modern scientific infrastructure projects.
The photographic works specifically capture this dialogue between past and present. Whereby the images were purposely altered by immersing the photographic negatives in the metalliferous soil of the mining areas, to create a unique patina that connects the imagery back to the soil of Sardinia.
